The Ministry of Operatic Affairs
BELGIUMS TRAVELING OPERA COMPANY
The Ministry of Operatic Affairs is the ambitious opera project of Bart Van Reyn (Octopus Chamber Choir & Le Concert d' Anvers) and theatre-maker Korneel Hamers (SKaGeN Theatre Company). In 2012, the two ‘Ministers’ forged a bond of blood in a Berlin bar, and founded Belgium’s first and only travelling opera company. They assembled a international group of artists who are obsessed with opera. Together they tackle classic operas by Mozart, Gluck, Haendel...
In November 2013 they presented a successful first production of Mozart's Don Giovanni, a fresh and moving show that was received well by its large audience and by the specialised press. Today, the Ministry invites you to its new production: 'Orfeo ed Euridice' by C. W. Gluck.
With respect for the original score and its traditions, director and conductor have created a completely new and fresh staging of this classic eighteenth-century masterpiece: poetic, timeless, but daring. The Ministry of Operatic Affairs never compromises on quality, bringing you the finest voices of Belgium and The Netherlands. The baroque orchestra Le Concert d'Anvers plays on historical instruments to deliver a sound in keeping with the spirit of the age.
